At Flourish, we use the term psychotherapist to define our training and role as longer term therapists (more than 90 days) who take time to learn the client’s context, family history, medical history, and past experiences to consider varying factors that could be contributing to the symptoms felt in the here and now. This can be different from a therapist or counselor who provide short term or crisis counseling. The term psychotherapist also differentiates our work from other therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and massage.
