Connecting To Your Nervous System for Emotional Flexibility

4 Week Educational & Supportive Class

Stressed, Overwhelmed? You are not alone!

We all feel stressed, overwhelmed, or exhausted sometimes; it is part of our human biology to have these experiences and to also recover from them.

But if you are finding it really hard to de-stress, turn down the intensity of anxiety, or shift out of exhaustion our class, Connecting To Your Nervous System for Emotional Flexibility, will help you build the awareness and skills to be mindful of what is happening within your autonomic nervous system and what you can do to help recover.

By understanding the different physiological states within your autonomic nervous system that your body goes into to respond and protect from perceived threats, externally or internally, you can bring in appropriate tools, techniques, and skills to give your body and nervous system what it needs to recover.

We believe learning about your autonomic nervous system and how to ‘hack’ it is so important to reducing stress and anxiety that we offer this class several times a year at an affordable rate.

This educational and supportive class is facilitated by mental health professionals and pulls information and tools from polyvagal theory, vagus nerve neuroscience, yoga, and mindful self-compassion.

 Group Therapy

**CURRENTLY OUR THERAPY GROUPS ARE FULL**

Do you find yourself declining social invitations or rely on one or two close friends or family members to talk with when times are tough or celebratory? Perhaps you prefer your alone time because you often feel ignored, misunderstood, or nervous about talking with others. Or maybe you believe you have nothing interesting to say or you don’t want anyone to see you having a panic attack.

Even though our modern world makes connecting to others so easy, it can be really hard to really get to know someone, for them to get to know you and even harder to find the words or courage when something feels off, confusing or triggering.

Find out what it feels like to receive empathy, compassion and acceptance from others while allowing yourself to be open and honest.

Our Mindfulness Groups for Anxiety and Depression are long-term, processing groups that meet for 90-minutes at least three times per month. The groups are small with a maximum of 6 members and are held either in person or telehealth/video.

Being a part of a long-term therapy processing group can help you:

  • Improve communication skills

  • Cultivate assertiveness and find your voice within a safe facilitated environment

  • Feel heard, seen and connected

  • Develop insight about habitual relational patterns

  • Increase self-acceptance

  • Live more fully and authentically in the present moment

Joining a long-term therapy group is different than starting individual therapy. We require you meet with the group’s facilitator at least three times for individual sessions to ensure you, the facilitator and group are a good fit for your personal goals.

The three (3) individual 50-minute sessions to explore joining a group are $135/each are scheduled after the free 15-minute phone call with the facilitator.

If you and the facilitator agree that joining group is the next step after three (3) individual sessions, the both of you will go over the Group Agreement to ensure you understand the structure and ‘rules’ of the group before your first group session.

There is a monthly fee of $180 charged at the beginning of the month. This fee includes three (3) group sessions even if you do not attend all of them. There are no refunds for cancellations, sick days or vacation days. Sometimes the group decides to meet more than three (3) times and if you attend a 4th group the fee is $60.

 Support Groups

Gain empathy and advice in a supportive environment with others who share a common struggle.

You have caught yourself thinking “I wish my partner / friends would just understand what I’m going through”.

Feeling isolated or dismissed about what you are feeling and thinking during challenging times can make your struggles feel more intense and hopeless. A part of you knows you need acknowledgment and empathy but another part of you may know that getting this from your family or friends feels hopeless.

Nourish your need for validation and support by participating in a group of people who are experiencing similar hardships.

Currently Flourish does not have any support groups. We recommend Austin Group Psychotherapy Society’s group directory to find a Support Group.
