Holistic & Integrative Approach to Mental Wellness

Our integrative team pulls together treatment protocols from the best practices in conventional, holistic, functional, alternative and plant-based medicine for mental wellness. Our practitioners are trained on cutting edge treatments such as nutrition specifically for mental health, psychedelics, or psychiatric medication management.

Nutrition, Ketamine & Psychiatric Medication Management

Our holistic approach to mental wellness includes bringing in integrative and cutting-edge treatments that respect the complexity and unique context of every human being while also considering effectiveness and minimizing negative side effects.

Nutrition

Evidence continues to support how connected our gut (also called the enteric nervous system or ‘second brain’) is to our brain as well as our entire body. Research has informed us that the gut and brain continually carry messages back and forth, so it would make sense that if we improve the gut environment (also known as the ‘microbiome’), we can influence the messages going up to the brain in a positive way. This increases the likelihood of having a balanced mood, more energy, and sharper brain cognition when we bring in the right foods and nutraceuticals to improve digestion and increase diversity within the microbiome.

Ketamine

Ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) is an emerging and innovative approach to mental health treatment. Its’ potential to build new pathways and establish healthier mental states is truly promising.  KAP presents a ground breaking shift in mental health treatment paradigms offering hope and new solutions to those individuals who have previously found limited success with traditional methods.

Psychiatric Medication Management

In regards to psychiatric medication like anti-depressants (SSRIs), data analysis from as early as 2002 found that six (6) SSRIs had the same effectiveness in decreasing symptoms of depression as a placebo.* However your prescriber might not be aware of this research or question whether a medication or a cocktail of psychiatric medications are still serving their purpose. Oftentimes medications are initiated in a time of great need. However, once the patient is stable, the prescribers no longer question if they should alter the regimen.

Mona Adamaszek, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (APRN, PMHN),  is passionate about systematically reducing or discontinuing medications that may no longer be beneficial or could contribute to adverse effects to help patients manage and optimize their medication regimens, ensuring that only the most beneficial and necessary treatments are used. Minimizing the medication overload helps reduce the risk of side effects and interactions, and in time can improve the patients’ quality of life and overall health outcomes.
