Cyndi Collen

LCSW-S, CIMHP, CKYT | Psychotherapist
Anxiety, Relationships, Trauma, PTSD and Integrative Mental Health Practitioner

For me, the best part of being a therapist is witnessing clients connecting with their most authentic, vulnerable, and beautiful selves. Although it takes time within the therapeutic process to make these connections, I create a judgment-free space so everyone feels comfortable, heard, and safe to explore memories, experiences, thoughts, stressors, trauma(s), and/or behaviors.

My specialty is treating people who have symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma or mood disorders as well as those experiencing chronic stress and challenges in their relationships. I see these folks as one whole person; this means I do not buy into labels or diagnoses or that the brain is solely responsible for their suffering. Working with your whole body and experiences you have had in your life, not just your brain or diagnosis, empowers both of us to do our best work so you can flourish!

I can work with you within an ongoing relationship for psychotherapy using mindfulness, attachment, and polyvagal theories, and internal family systems (IFS) to help resolve held experiences so you can be at ease in the here and now.

Or if you are already in therapy or coaching with another practitioner I can work with you on a short-term basis to get to the root cause of your mental health symptoms. We first meet together to do an Integrative Mental Health Assessment and then I provide a treatment plan that includes lifestyle changes and nature-based supplements to give the body what it needs to reverse cellular damage from toxins that are likely impacting your mental health. These assessments utilize my training in integrative medicine for mental health and functional nutrition while also applying a trauma-informed lens. For the assessment and treatment plan, I recommend a new client see me 2-3 times over a month so I can gather context and recommend supplements and lifestyle changes that can decrease symptoms, negating the need for psychiatric medication.

I hold both a Bachelors and Masters of Science of Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin and certifications as a Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider and Kundalini Yoga Teacher. The common threads connecting all I do is mindfulness and the vagus nerve. I love learning and stay on the cutting edge of research and mindfulness-based treatments to have a large ‘basket’ of treatment tools we can choose from.

I am a board-approved LCSW Supervisor in Texas and also an LCSW in Colorado.

When I am not working or learning I love to cook, take long walks with my pups, hang at the beach, indulge in comedy that makes me laugh so much my cheeks hurt and practice meditation and Kundalini yoga nearly every day.
